Executive Chef Charlie Connell
A 1988 graduate of the prestigious Professional Chef’s Program at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, Chef Charlie Connell has worked in some of the finest kitchens across California. He has spent the last 14 years as the Execuitve Chef of the Doubletree by Hilton Sacramento hotel, where he oversees the hotel’s $5 million per year food and beverage operations.
While not in the kitchen at the Doubletree, you can usually find Chef Charlie on local televisions stations or teaching cooking classes at local elementary schools. His favorite hobbies include perfecting his passion for barbeque and working in his organic garden
Chef Charlie’s approachable and down-to-earth demeanor has earned him three Manager of the Year awards with the Doubletree by Hilton Sacramento and the highly sought after championship in the California State Fair’s annual Golden Bear Chefs Challenge. In 2006, his culinary talent and creativity earned him the coveted Chef of the Year award from the California Chapter of the American Culinary Federation. In 2013, he won Hilton’s highest individual award – the Sprit of Care Award.
